There are a few different things that may cause the behavior you've observed: I'm sorry to hear about the experience you're running into. But after reading your review as well as others, I am put off of Roku Thanks for the note here. Also, that same friend said I should consider getting a stick, and I considered the Stick+ like you have.
You also shouldn’t need to unplug it from power each time.

My point is that you shouldn’t have to play with the tv source each time you turn your tv on if you didn’t change the source before turning the tv off. They have to change the source each time, and sometimes it works for them. But I have seen reviews of Samsung and LG TVs that have had similar issues with not having a signal. My friend swears it’s because I have a tv that’s not name brand. It’s funny because my Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, nor Apple TV have ever needed this to be done.
I had to do this every single time I turned the tv off and back on while the Roku light was still on. What’s the only thing that worked? Unplugging the Roku from power and plugging it back in. Changed the HDMI cable to a different port. Switched HDMI sources on the tv like everyone says to do. Hit the Roku home button several times and waited. Tv and Roku were on, but the tv said there was no signal. I have the same problem with the Roku Ultra.
